I’m currently seeking a pair of silver mary jane shoes for my nearly-three-year-old to wear to a wedding soon. Mary jane shoes (should it be Mary Jane shoes? Or does it become lower case like brogues or flip flops? Some smart person reading this will know the answer…) Anyway, mary jane shoes are just so adorable on young girls. They’re sensible, they’ll stay on the foot and they’re robust.
These mary jane shoes however (I’m sticking with lower case. I like consistency) are anything but sensible. They’re outrageous. And amazing.
Made by Vivienne Westwood, these girls’ shoes are cream, they’re made from rubber and they have a huge tartan bow on them. How could a little girl NOT look fab in these? (or a little boy. My fav pair of shoes are black, very very tall and have a tartan detail on the edge. They get taken out of the box once a year to look at!! Poor beautiful shoes!!

Ohhh I have a pair which are boxed, that sit in their box and no longer fit me (two pregnancies left my feet fat!!!) I imagine they will sadly become dressing up shoes for my little girl!
They are a wooden mule, hand painted with flowers all over the heel and foot bed, and have soft silver leather toe straps!
They bear the Christian Dior label, limited numbered edition and remind me of a time when I bought my shoes in Selfridges!
