My little girl turns three next month. Three! I’m not one of those mums who says “How did that happen?” because in some ways I feel like I’ve lived through six years of being a mum. Those sleepless nights and long long empty days during my maternity leave seemed to last a lifetime.
But we’re here! We made it to three. She’s like a proper little girl now, and I can’t even refer to her as my toddler anymore as she’s past that stage. She’s so bright and funny, she can count to 20 (if you ignore the fact she merges 15 and 16 into one new number: Fisteen), she pulls silly faces, she jokes around asking if Daddy has gone to the moon when she knows he’s in the shower, she remembers stuff like where her calf is, she calls me Alison if I’m not responding fast enough to the shouts of “Mummy!” and she loves playing shops (in her shop, everything costs £2.22 – it’s like a more upmarket pound shop). Yes, she is bossy and thinks she can get everything she wants by whining and crying, but doesn’t every three year old?
So I’m currently in the middle of planning a third birthday party for her. And I’m spending a LOT of time on Pinterest, looking for inspiration. Do I want paper balls? Paper chains? Bunting? Bright balloons? Streamers? Or all of the above? Here are my favourite party pics from Pinterest… (click through to the board to see where everything is from and to access the how-tos for some of them)…
One idea that I LOVE is buying a whole pack of themed decorations and goodies. Mum Emma Collins has started her own company Party Pickles making and selling super cute party boxes, containing everything you need for your party. Each box caters for eight children and includes hand-made bunting and table runners as well as a bespoke themed cake stand, plates, cups, napkins and party favours. Loving the circus themed one, personally. For busy mums who don’t have time to source gorgeous handmade decorations separately, Party Pickles is a genius quick fix.
Party Pickles have kindly given me one party pack worth £79.95 to give away to a winner. To enter, fill in the Rafflectopter box below. The winner will be able to choose from six themes – Vintage Circus, Pirate, Lavender Fairy, Vintage Tea Party, Little Man or a Baby Shower box. Good luck!

Having just organised my little monkey’s 2nd birthday party I looked everywhere for vintage style sandwich flags but couldn’t find them anywhere. So I made them myself using jam jar labels and cocktail sticks – this is the result: http://confessionsofacrummymummy.wordpress.com/2013/08/16/how-to-make-homemade-sandwich-flags/
