It’s exhausting, isn’t it? No, not being a parent (yes, that’s knackering too) but what I’m talking about here is finding the perfect pair of jeans. I don’t know anyone who enjoys going shopping for jeans. It’s such a depressing experience. It seems like it doesn’t matter what your body shape is, you have to endure around four weeks of trying on hideously-fitting jeans before you find a pair you like. And often you end up buying a pair that you “just like” rather than the pair that make you look amazing. You plump for the pair that makes you look least fat. It’s SOUL DESTROYING.
Of course, everyone’s body is different, so it’s tough I imagine for retailers to make jeans that will suit everyone. Me, personally, this is what i’m looking for:
- Nice quality denim – thick with a good bit of stretch so they keep their shape
- High rise, to avoid an unsightly muffin top
- Skinny leg – all the way down to the ankle, none of this going baggy at the bottom business
- 32″ length so they sit just below the ankle and look great with heels and hi tops
I used to be a big advocate of Dorothy Perkins jeans but they tend to be a bit baggy around the ankle and they lose their shape so quickly (I have one pair that unless I wash them every time I wear them, they go baggy around the knee, bum and crotch – not the look I was going for). But now, the jeans I would recommend to anyone who’ll listen are the Uniqlo Ultra Stretch. I discovered these bad boys when one of the fashion editors at work wore them and blogged about them.
They tick all my boxes – great shape and stretch, high rise, skinny all the way down the leg. They only come in a 33″ leg but Uniqlo offer a free of charge alteration service (woop!) and bonus points – they come in about a zillion different colours. But the best bit? They cost just £29.90. I’ve got two pairs already (black and blue) but I’m going to treat myself to a red pair and possibly the purple too. It’d be rude not to.
You may have just made my summer – I could kiss you! Been searching for the perfect jeans for AGES now. Loving the yellow ones – off to find me a pair!
Ooh! I’m a “jeans from Tesco” kinda girl but still on the search for a really good pair. I might give these a whirl!
You found the perfect jeans for yourself; now please find them for me. I can’t do skinny or too much stretch. Thanks in advance 😉 xxx
So true-it is a never ending quest-I LOVE my Topshop skinny JAIME’s although I can zip them, comfortable they are not. I found DP great for a few months then they go up a size once washed.
You have hit the nail on the head for me! Looking like you are wearing a huge mumma size nappy is never a good look! So off to Uniqlo I go! I think those green ones have my name all over it!! X
