Oh I Do Love A Date Night…

I love a date night. When you have kids, going out as a couple is SO much more exciting than before you had kids. It feels like a proper treat, and I find planning where to go almost as much fun as the actual date. A few weeks ago, my mum came to stay with us for the weekend. She always insists we go out for the night when she is staying, but I realised when she arrived that I hadn’t planned anything yet. So we went on an impromptu date to Wishbone in Brixton (a-mazing chicken place where we consumed a week’s worth of calories) and the Ritzy cinema to see The World’s End.

I always feel the need to post pictures on Facebook and Instagram on a date – it’s like I have to tell the world “LOOK! I’m on a date! I have a life outside Peppa Pig and Mothercare!” This is a pic I posted on Facebook in Wishbone (shortly before I got tipsy on two vodka sours and three glasses of wine – oops.)

This weekend we are going on another date night and we’re ticking off something on my list of Things I Want To Do In London. We’re going to the Choral Greats Fireworks Spectacular at Kenwood House. Part of the Live At The Lake series, it’ll have the Royal Choral Society together with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, performing choral classics which will culminate in a fireworks display. We’re going to pack a posh picnic and my hubby has even suggested we take some bubbles to celebrate our wedding anniversary a couple of days early. YES. My kinda night.
