New Jacket + Peppa Pig Umbrella = Successful Shopping Trip!

Before I was a mum, a shopping trip would usually involve a potter around one shop, a meandre around another, a quick pit stop for a coffee somewhere and then a mass trying-on session in a shop changing room. Oh how those days have gone! Now, I very rarely go shopping and if I do, it’s planned with military precision. “Right,” I’ll say to my husband. “The one thing we have to buy is a potty, so let’s go to that shop first, and then a quick dive into the card shop and if we’re able to, we’ll run into the grocery shop to buy dinner for tonight.” We’re basically shopping with a ticking timebomb of boredom – aka our toddler girl. She might decide at any minute that she’s had enough and our choice then is to carry on, pushing a child screaming “SNACKS!” in her buggy through the shops or admit defeat and slink home.

This weekend we had a successful shopping trip to Matalan in nearby Lewisham. Successful because I’d already ordered what I needed from the website with their Matalan Click and Collect service, and all I had to do was dart into the shop to collect it. I was so quick, the toddler – who was in the car with her dad – barely even noticed I’d gone. (She was too busy singing along to Hands Up by Justin Fletcher I suspect.)

And as with all shopping trips, it was successful because I’d bought something for me and something (well, two things) for her. I treated myself to a khaki green jacket with leather-look sleeves. I’ve had my eye on this jacket in various high street shops for months now, and this version is a bargain. Best thing is, the hood is detachable, so it’s practical on rainy days but stylish on dry days.

And speaking of rainy days, I bought a Peppa Pig umbrella for my daughter. Have I mentioned she’s Peppa obsessed? Well she’s also umbrella obsessed, so this was the perfect purchase. She’s been playing with this ever since we got it, and she’s desperate for it to rain so she can use it for real!

I also picked up a cute striped jumper dress for her which was only £7! For real! She hasn’t worn it yet, but it’ll look brilliant with her bright red tights and brown winter boots. Nice one, Matalan, for making one mum and little girl very happy this weekend.

Matalan allowed me to order these items free of charge, for the purpose of this post. All views are my own, natch.

I shop like this now! I call it guerilla shopping. Order online and pick up your shopping quick as you can before the toddler even notices he is in a shop!

Why users still use to read news papers when in this technological world
    everything is available on web?
