When my little one started cruising around furniture at home, we did what most all parents do. We went to Clarks, had her feet measured and bought some overpriced good quality, sturdy cruising shoes. Then, when she was walking unaided, we returned to Clarks, had her feet measured again and bought her a pair of ‘proper’ shoes.
Clarks have the toddler shoe market sewn right up. Seriously, I don’t know of any mums and dads who went anywhere else to buy their toddler’s first shoes. I’m sure lots of shoe shops can measure a child’s foot perfectly well, but there’s something about the Clarks brand (and good old peer pressure) that made me go there. If I’m honest, I was a little bit scared that if I went anywhere else, they’d get it wrong, I’d buy the wrong size shoes, and my child’s feet would grow misshapen and she’d spend her life hobbling around with a bitter look in her eye every time she looked my way.
But now that we’ve had her feet measured and bought her first pair of proper shoes, I feel confident enough to buy some shoes from other stores. It’s time to buy our toddler some trainers! And what choice there is for today’s on-trend tyke. Here are my four top picks:
Toddler trainers are soooo cute. My daughter’s first shoes were from Clark’s (obvs.!!) and I will treasure them forever. But the sight of her in her little Converse One Star’s melts my heart (even more than usual)

There’s something SO cute about Converse on a baby or child, isn’t there?! x
Very cool!
I still went to Clarks up until very recently… but now it’s converse all the way and the odd pair from H&M to get all scuffed up 🙂
