Elle Wright is, quite simply, one of the strongest and most inspiring people I’ve met. In 2016, Elle and her husband Nico welcomed their son, Teddy, into the world, but three days later, after health complications, they had to say goodbye to him and Teddy died. Within two weeks, they set up a fundraising page to tell people about Teddy and to raise money in his name, for the neonatal unit that cared for Teddy during his short life. To date, they’ve raised over £43,000.
In 2017, Elle started a blog – Feathering The Empty Nest – where she talks about grief, baby loss and adjusting to life again with the help of renovating their home. Her Instagram account is followed by over 50,000 people (Elle thinks it’s all down to her pet pug, Boris…)
In our chat, Elle explains what happened in the days after Teddy was born, how they coped in the weeks and months after his death, and how they started to rebuild their life.

Brought back all the memories of when our daughter was stillborn. Words don’t do justice for that feeling of returning home empty handed … of all the awkwardness and heartache. A real living nightmare. Sending hugs Elle… Thank you for speaking out x
