Money-Saving Buys For The Home

Saving money is one of my favourite things – whether it’s getting a bargain, finding a much cheaper version of something gorgeous or even just realising I’ve gone out fewer times this month and have more in the bank to show for it.

We recently gave our living room a revamp (take a look here and watch the room tour video if you fancy) and while we were buying bits and pieces for it, I came across loads of fab buys that weren’t as expensive as you’d think. I get so excited about getting more for my money, just like TSB’s new 5 plus account is enabling. (The 5 Plus account is a 5% AER current account interest on balances up to £2,000 with 5% cashback on your first £100 of contactless payments every month and 5% AER Monthly Saver
interest on savings of between £25 to £250 each month.) Find out more about it on their site and check out my bargain buys…

I’ve had my eye on the novelty star lights from BHS for a while, but they’re on the pricey side of things. So imagine my joy, when I spotted a very similar LED light from Primark for a tenner. I may have bought this star light and and a red arrow LED light too.

Eames chairs are everywhere right now and there are lots of Eames-inspired chairs available too. £49 is much more in my budget than £333, so the more affordable Cult Furniture chairs are right up my street.

One of my favourite brands is Orla Kiely – our guest bedroom is decked out in bright colourful Orla bed linen and accessories. But this Orla-esque blanket from HEMA is only £15 and looks snuggly enough to have on the side of my sofa, for colder nights watching movies.

I’m on a cushion-buying-ban at the moment, after buying lots recently. Habitat is my cushion-shop of choice, and their gold spot cushion is gorgeous but a bit on the expensive side at £75. Check out the £8 Asda cushion. I’m not as keen on the tassels, but it would be fairly easy to remove them.

Have you spotted any gorgeous bargains recently?

Thanks to TSB for asking me to write about getting more for my money – for info on how I work with brands, see my Work With Me page.

I think I’m going to have to buy the star, it’s amazing! I bought my Eames chairs over 10 years ago, they were much less money back then! Have a great Tuesday.

I love that star light, what a bargain! Might have to get myself to Primark and pick one up.
We also have the cheap ‘Eames’ chairs, they look great.
