Ooh I love an excuse to get properly dressed up! A day at the races, a wedding, a Christening, someone’s 40th birthday… just give me a chance to pop on a posh frock and some lippy, and I’m happy. I will even wear heels for a few hours before I swiftly change into flats for dancing – slash – getting a taxi home. This summer, getting together with family and friends feels even more important after two years of cancelled events and big disappointments. I feel positively giddy at the prospect of drinking fizz with my friends and dancing until the wee hours.
When it comes to outfits, I’ve been wowed by how many gorgeous occasion dresses there are at Very.co.uk for SS22 – seriously, take a look! Whatever you have planned, they have something that would work.
Here are some of my favourites!
First up, the frock at the top of this post – isn’t it gorgeous? This green floral number is part of the Judi Love x Very range. I am obsessed with the contrasting colours in the print and the sleeves. It’s a real WOW dress.
Next is this absolutely beautiful dress by Monsoon. The beading and detail on it is breathtaking – I’d almost be too scared to wear it to a wedding in case I upstaged the bride!
Another Judi Love x Very frock. I wasn’t sure about this one when it arrived but LOVED it when I popped it on. The colour is so vivid, and the sleeves detail give it an edge.
I styled this Monsoon dress with flats to show that you don’t have to wear heels to look glam at an occasion. I’m in love with the print on this dress and the puffy sleeves make me feel like a princess.
Of course, we need to deck out the kids for summer occasions too. I asked my 11-year-old and 3-year-old twins to choose their favourite outfits from Very.co.uk. Want to see what they picked?
My 11-year-old isn’t really into dresses, so her eyes lit up when she spotted this gorgeous navy jumpsuit with sparkly waistband. The Bardot neckline adds a touch of glam, and even though she will probably wear it with her metallic trainers, I know she will look awesome!
Both of my 3-year-old twins love dressing up as a princess. They inherited their big sister’s fancy dress box so most days they dress as Elsa or Rapunzel. Imagine their excitement when I asked them to pick their own ‘princess dress’. One went for a lilac tulle Chi Chi London dress and the other chose a beautiful floral and cream Chi Chi London dress. They’re both going to feel great – and look super cute – when they wear these!
