I’m still unsure whether this is part of an elaborate joke, but last night, I was awarded the Best Mummy Blog Writer gong at the Gurgle Blog Awards 2011. When I set up this blog in June, the only blog I’d ever read was my brother’s and one belonging to some American dude called Perez. I had no clue about blogging, or whether anyone would care about what I wrote.
So last night was hilarious and brilliant – me, blogger of three months winning an actual award given by the Mothercare-owned community site, Gurgle. There I was, all ready to display my ‘disappointed but grateful for being nominated’ face (I’d been watching recordings of The Oscars for tips, and everything) especially when I was up against some serious (and well established) blogs like Mum on the brink, Four down, mum to go, More than just a mother and Dulwich divorcee.
After a few wines and some mingling with Jonathan from The Daddy Diaries and Katy from Baby Stylist, it was over to TV’s Myleene Klass who hosted the show and dished out the awards. She sashayed in, all bouncy hair, big smile and stylish in a green pussy-bow dress (if she wasn’t so lovely, you’d seriously dislike her). Sadly the winners weren’t asked to give an acceptance speech so I’ve saved it for you all.
I’d like to thank my publicist, my agent, my family, the lady who ensures my dressing room is swathed in white and covered in lilies (what is her name, again?) and the guy who colour codes my M&Ms. Oh, and my fans. Without you, as Whitney once sang, I have nothing.
Congratulations and well done!

I’d like to give you an award – the first ever nasty comment left on my blog. Congrats!
Generally I do not read post on blogs, but I wish to say that
this write-up very forced me to try and do so! Your writing taste has
been surprised me. Thanks, quite nice post.
