Bloggers choose their must-have autumn buys

London Fashion Week 2012 might have left the fashionistas of the world feeling inspired but us mere mortals are still in that tricky place with our wardrobes where it’s not summer anymore but it’s not quite autumn yet. ‘Is it too mild for opaque tights?’ we ask each morning. ‘Can I get away with not wearing a jacket?’ we ponder. Fashion experts tell us we need a trans-seasonal wardrobe, but it’s just so hard to know what buy in a sea of amazingness.

So to help everyone out a bit, I’ve asked five of my favourite bloggers to pick their must-have autumn buys. Ready for some fashionspiration? Here we go…

Erica from Modern Mum Must-have says it’s all about the quilted trench coat:

Erica Davies, Modern Mum Must-have blogger“Choosing just one item for Autumn is a little bit like asking me to pick a favourite child. I am LUSTING after so many things (not that great when I’m on SMP) that I couldn’t really decide what to pick.

“I love Kurt Geiger’s studded ‘Storm’ biker boots (£180), which would toughen up a tunic dress and leggings. Also really want one of the new season parka jackets – Whistles’ ‘Claudia’ waxed parka (£165) is perfect for nursery drop-off.

“And if hubby’s reading, I am a bit obsessed with Mulberry’s new ‘Maisie’ bag in orange. Thanks! But for my actual pick, I think I’m going to go for a modern take on a classic with this Zara quilted trench coat. I have wanted a classic trench for ages and this one has more than a hint of Burberry about it. Not bad for £119. I’ll wear mine with jumper dresses, opaque tights and ankle boots. Although you could throw it on over your pyjamas and still look as though you’d made a bit of effort.” Read more from Erica on her blog.

Vicki from Honest Mum has JUST had her second baby (she wrote this a few days earlier) and is in love with her bright slipper shoes:

Vicki, Honestmum.com, blogger fashion picks, Office shoes“Lugging around a large Mitzi Hobo Mulberry was proving too heavy pregnant so I purchased a Mulberry Antony bag in dark grey that fits nicely over the bump and only allows for the essentials: phone, purse, Gaviscon (!), lipstick and powder. I’ve got an iCandy baby bag to match the pram so will put baby and toddler’s things in there and stop lugging around everything and my life, on my arm.

“But getting into ‘Mummy of 2 mode’ as baby is nearly here, I treated myself some vibrant Empire slipper Fuschia microfribre lovelies from Office to brighten up my current uniform of black, black and more black. Even the midwife commented on them today when I went in for a check up. They really make me smile and at £25 they’re a bargain to boot.” Check out Vicki’s fab blog.

Sarah from Mostly Yummy Mummy has her eye on some cowboy boots – yee hah!

MostlyYummyMummy.com, Zara boots, cowboy boots, A/W12 fashion“My wish list is as long as my arm right now. I seem to be getting brochure after brochure in the post and email after email full of autumnal gorgeousness – it’s killing me. But the first thing that came to mind were these cowboy ankle boots (£89.99) from Zara – love them!

I love the colour and have convinced myself that they will go with everything from skinny jeans to dresses with woolly tights. I just love the stud detail plus the low heel make them practical for chasing the kids around too. That makes me sound like such a mum, doesn’t it? Argh! Don’t answer that!” Take a peek at MostlyYummyMummy.com.

Molly from Mother’s Always Right is a fan of a cocoon jacket:

Molly, Mother's Always Right, Topshop coat, A/W12 fashion“I’m a bit obsessed with coats at the moment and I love this Textured Wool Cocoon Jacket (£85) from Topshop. It looks easy to wear and I really like the slouchy kind of relaxed not-too-tailored look.

“Think it would look lovely with a pair of skinny jeans and flats, or jazzed up over the top of a dress with some thick tights and boots. I may have to buy it.” Read more from Molly on her blog.

Alice from More Than Toast is in the Zara gang too:

morethantoast.org, Alice Harold, mummy blogger“I have been coveting a classic Zara leather biker jacket for the last 6 months… so easy to throw on over anything when you’re rushing out of the door and I love the look of a nice leather jacket with a hoodie (a lazy day favourite of mine!).

“Now if someone would like to up my Maternity Pay by £119.00 please?!” Have a little look at Alice’s blog.

Helen from Coco Mama Style has this on the top of her wishlist:

Helen, cocomamastyle.com, A/W fashion, Zara cardigan“Is it a cardigan? Is it a jacket? Whatever it is, it’s my must-have for Autumn. With a leather look front to add a rock chick edge to your mummy look and a jersey back for comfortable, throw-it-on style, this Zara cardi-jacket is the perfect instant wardrobe update. It’s a steal at just £29.99 for quick fix Autumn style.

“I’ll wear it with burgundy skinny jeans, studded ankle boots and a loose tee for a simple but stylish day look.” Want to read more from Helen? Check out her blog.
