The Ultimate School Run Outfits – Part 3

alison-perry-blogger

Most days, the school run for me is about keeping warm and dry while I focus on getting my five-year-old to school, to meet her teaching assistant in the playground before she heads off in a line towards her classroom, clutching her book bag. But around once a week, I dash for the train, straight after dropping her off, to head into central London for a meeting or two.

On those days, the ‘keeping warm and dry’ element still stands, but I need to look presentable for my meetings, so this kind of outfit is my friend.

Flat shoes are a must for me, when it comes to stomping around London, jumping on the tube and zipping through the Soho streets or Covent Garden, dodging the tourists. I spent most of last autumn and winter looking for the perfect pair of brogues, and then before I knew it, it was spring and my mind turned to pretty lace ups. But hurrah, I found these fab pewter brogues from Clarks and they are SO BLOOMING COMFY.

I’m not usually a ‘knit’ kinda gal – wool makes me itch and I get too hot and flustered – but this amazing taxi-print cashmere jumper from Boden has converted me. It’s cosy enough to wear on its own, on milder autumn days, and I’ll be able to layer it when it gets chilly. I love the taxi (even if he does have a little sad face on him!) and the cashmere doesn’t itch (who knew?!).

I love it with my leather look skirt (or pleather if you prefer) from Next and my faithful black tights from M&S. I didn’t think I could ever get away with tucking a jumper into a skirt – my body shape usually means my tummy bulges when I try this – but I’ve worn this outfit a couple of times recently and *whispers* I think I can pull it off! What do you think?

Check out my rainy day school run outfit and my cold but dry day school run outfit and you can follow me over on Instagram for exciting (!) snaps of my outfits. Thanks to Boden, Next & Clarks for your help with this post!

Great look 🙂 There is nothing worse than itchy wool!! Or the kind that leaves little hairs all over the top you are wearing underneath! x

Ooh – LOVE LOVE LOVE that skirt! And you can totally pull it off! I fear brogues – but those are awesome! Clarks have some great bits. Good finds lady! Comfort is so key for the school run. I’ve been known to do it in gym gear – when I haven’t been anywhere near the gym! Shh… don’t tell 😉 x
