Should We Stop Obsessing Over Kate Middleton’s Bump?

I’ll admit it – I’m a bit obsessed with Kate Middleton and her baby bump. Whenever she makes a public appearance, I’m the first person to study the photos.

‘Ooh, her bump’s getting bigger!’ or ‘Nice frock. Whistles?’ are the kinds of things I’ll say to my colleagues at work. Needless to say, I’m not down with the desire to snap the Duchess of Cambridge in her bikini or while she’s relaxing in private places. Give the girl a break. All women, never mind expectant mums, need space and privacy to relax.

This week, I took part in a Google+ Hangout hosted by Britmums where we discussed Kate, her bump and whether it’s really any of our business at all. You can watch it here and tell me what your take on it is by commenting below…

I feel like it’s not really that big of a deal. But then again I’m not from the UK…but even with other celebrities I’m not all that interested in their bumps. I suppose because she is such an important person people are so excited about it. But I think she needs a little break from the media to just enjoy being pregnant you know?

I couldn’t agree more with you. I think it’s normal that the general public show an interest in Kate’s pregnancy, but we should treat her with the same respect as we’d treat our pregnant friends or neighbours or the way we’d want to be treated in a pregnancy.
