New Winter Boots For Me And The Kiddo

Something comes over me when I walk into a shop that has a sale on – it happened yesterday when I was walking through Boots. I couldn’t help myself from being drawn like a magnet to all of the Christmas gift sets (aka “smellies”) that were now half price. My heart rate quickened and my eyes darted from a Joules hand wash set to a Soap and Glory gift box. I somehow managed to leave the shop, without buying anything – a personal win for my bank balance.

A couple of weeks ago, however, I picked up some fab new boots from Clarks. You know how sometimes you’ll be looking for the *perfect* pair of boots, and you can’t find them for love nor money? And then other times, you just happen across them? This was the latter – I was doing some last minute Christmas shopping and popped into Clarks to see if they did slippers (for my mother-in-law) and there they were! Flat, black Chelsea boots in the sale, and in my size! The shoe gods were smiling on me. They were £52 reduced to £27 (bargain!) so I snapped them up. I forgot all about the slippers I was supposed to be looking for.

They’re the perfect boot for running around, doing the school run, dashing to meet a friend for coffee and doing a bit of work.

We also kitted out the five-year old with new winter boots – she’s at the age now where she likes to choose her own clothes and shoes so while I was keen for her to buy silver desert boots or these amazing trainers, she chose these leather and suede boots with a flower design.

She’s been wearing these boots for a few weeks now and they’re currently a bit muddy and worn in – but isn’t that the joy of good quality shoes for kids? You know that even though they’ll get a good pounding as your child runs through the park, climbs on rocks and rides their bike, the shoes or boots will survive.

The only mildly frustrating part about shopping for kids’ shoes in Clarks is they don’t separate the different ages/sizes in-store. So we chose a couple of pairs of boots, which ended up only being available up to size 9 (The five-year-old is a 10). It would be much better if they had sections for different size brackets (or just made all the shoes available in all sizes!).

What do you think of our winter boots? When the weather (eventually) turns wintery, we are going to be all kitted out and sorted!

I am on the look out for a new pair of flat black boots. I have the perfect pair already but they are so worn and I really wanted to replace them with the exact same boot but they don’t make them anymore!!! Should have had my bulk buy hat on when I had the chance!

Love those Chelsea boots! I went into Clarkes for the girls the other day and ended up lusting over some of their lovely shoes. Really impressed with their grownup selection. Love your boots outfit flatlay too!

Agree: re the Clarks confusion – we took F to get her first shoes last week (sniff!) and I picked out three pairs I loved but they were only in the pre-walker range. Love these boots though! And the iPad sizing in the store x
