Podcast #28: Fleur Emery On Juggling Entrepreneur Life With Single Motherhood

I loved recording this episode with my guest Fleur Emery, because she’s one of those people who isn’t afraid to just say what she thinks, even if it’s not a popular view. As a serial start-up entrepreneur, Fleur has launched a few businesses, mentored people like Pippa Murray, founder of Pip & Nut, and even once appeared on Dragon’s Den. Her podcast All Of The Above sees her interview different people from the business world, from hairdresser James Brown to India Sellars, co-founder of Maids To Measure.

Fleur is also a single mum to her two-year-old daughter, and we chat about her route to motherhood which was unusual but totally right for her. We also talk about her views on parenting, breastfeeding, marketing to new mums and why she really dislikes the positive mum slogans you see all over Instagram!

Check out Fleur’s podcast here and you can follow her on Instagram too.

Loved this podcast. What a refreshing change from all the instamums that seem to be doing the podcast circuit. I didn’t agree with all she said but she really made me think and challenge some existing viewpoints I have.

Wow…not backwards in coming forwards! I didn’t agree with most of what she said. I breastfed both my children but still, wholeheartedly, believe happy mums lead to happy babies. It was interesting to listen to but I felt her views were very black and white, and, dare I say, judgmental.

Hey! Only just discovered this, going to have a listen.
This rings so true, trying to balance business life with a baby and I look forward to hearing the views on breastfeeding.

    Thanks, Maria 🙂

Been working m way through the back catalogue of this podcast over the past week (currently 16 weeks pregnant) while I don’t 100% agree with everything, and Fleur is so privileged, I found this so refreshing. Really agree with her on instagram and worshipping cheapness.

Such a different life to the one I’m currently living, but so interesting.

    What a fascinating person.
