Why My Mum Is One In A Million

[ADVERT]

I’m pretty sure that most people think their mum is one in a million, and while we should show our mums how much they mean to us every day, and not just on Mother’s Day, it’s easy to forget. Life gets in the way and those moments where you stop and tell your mum how brilliant she is can be few and far between.

I realised the other day that the last few times I’ve invited my mum to stay with us, it’s been so that she can babysit for us and help us out. She gets stuck into the practical things when she is here, and we probably don’t treat her enough like a guest or look after her as much as we should!

So when Nectar asked me to write a post about why she’s a #MumInAMillion, you’ll understand how keen I was. The above photo of my mum captures her spirit perfectly. Standing in front of Cinderella’s Castle in Walt Disney World, wearing a t-shirt that says ‘All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them’. You see, my mum is one of the most positive, glass-half-full, kind of people you can meet. She doesn’t see problems, she sees challenges. She taught me to attack life with a smile and with gusto. So much of who I am, and what I’ve achieved, is thanks to my mum.

She’s had a tough few years, my mum, but she has had the courage to pursue her dreams which makes her, in my eyes, a total hero. It can be too easy to sit around, feeling sorry for yourself rather than picking yourself up and making things happen. My mum has taught me so much about being in control of my destiny and this photo of her sums this up perfectly.

Another reason that she’s a #MumInAMillion is that she’s one of the most tech-savvy 70-year-olds I know. She has an iPhone, an iPad and a MacBook, she texts and emails, she’s a fan of an emoji conversation, she has a blog – she is basically just what I want to be like when I’m 70.

So an iPhone case with this photo feels like a very appropriate Mother’s Day gift for her, and thanks to my Nectar card points and Photobox, it was quick and easy.

Photobox has recently become a collect partner of Nectar – Britain’s leading coalition loyalty programme – which means you can now collect Nectar points when you shop at Photobox and you can also spend your Nectar points at Photobox. There are loads of offers on Photobox – I got 20% off this phone case when I ordered it last week and you can check out the current offers here. Linking your Nectar card with Photobox is really easy – you simply select how many Nectar points you want to cash in and you’re emailed voucher codes which you can then use to buy items at Photobox.

I reckon my mum is going to LOVE her new phone case – it’s the kind of thing that will make her grin whenever she uses her phone – and there’s still time for you to order a Mother’s Day gift from Photobox …. and collect Nectar points at the same time. Plus! If you’d like to be in with a chance of winning some fab prizes for your mum, including a luxury hamper with Champagne, chocolates, candles, a £200 Photobox credit and 20,000 Nectar points, here’s how…

Simply post a photo of your mum on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram and tell Nectar why your mum is a #MumInAMillion – make sure you use the hashtag and tag @Nectar and @Photobox for your entry to count. Full T&Cs on the Nectar website.

Because I’m nosy, I want to know why your mum is a #MumInAMillion too, so comment below and tell me!

Ah this is lovely. Having met your Mum a couple of times now I think you described her perfectly, she seems like a fantastic lady and in turn has raised a fantastic daughter. xx

This is so lovely, Alison. From what you’ve said about your mum I think she’s a mum in a million, too! And the fact you have said she can have whole conversations in emojis only reinforces that 😉

Oh what a great giveaway and your mother sounds amazing. I know what you mean, I feel bad for not spending enough time with my mother over her just helping me out with the kids – I need to make more time just for her
