Pennyhill Park Hotel & Spa… and the ingredients for the best night’s sleep ever

Last weekend, I took my lovely mum off for an overnight spa stay – she’d looked after the five year old while we were away in the Cotswolds and Cornwall so it felt like a fitting way to say thank you. We’re both a big fan of a spa treatment, and she swims regularly, so it was the ideal place for a bit of mum-and-daughter time.

It also meant we both got a bit of a break – now, granted, I was incredibly lucky to have just been away with Mr P for a few nights, but I like to think that ‘me time’ is a bit like powering-up in computer games, and the more you power-up, the stronger and happier you’ll be for longer.

We headed to Pennyhill Park Hotel & Spa, spending the afternoon ducking in and out of steam rooms, ice rooms and foot spas before settling ourselves pool-side, with a glass of something fizzy and some books and newspapers.

It was incredibly relaxing – so relaxing in fact, that I had a little snooze on the lounger! After a while, we headed back to our hotel room to get ready for dinner – making sure we had a shower, just because it was insanely big with a huge overhead shower and side jets too.

After dinner and drinks, it was time for bed. Our stay at Pennyhill Park had been arranged so that I could check out the memory foam mattress that they have in each guest room (my job can be a strange one at times, and being asked to visit a hotel in order to do a Tempur cloud mattress review is probably up there with the oddest, but nicest, requests!)

Now, ask any parent, and they’ll tell you the same thing: sleep is important. And one of the best things about having a night away without any little ones around, is the promise of an uninterrupted night’s sleep and (praise be) a lie in, come morning. So the combination of an afternoon in the spa, and sleeping on the mattress of dreams, meant that I had one of the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a LONG time.

Not only was the mattress very comfortable (and soft yet supportive) but my head just sank into the pillow and the goose down and feather duvet felt heavenly. The clever thing about Tempur mattresses is that they conform and adapt to the exact shape of your body and support you in a way that makes you feel weightless. The unique Tempur material is soft where you want it, and firm where you need it. You can find your most comfortable position and are supported there perfectly, so you wake up ready for the day ahead!

But the following morning, I was so comfortable, it was a real struggle to get out of bed – so I didn’t. I stayed in bed, reading the papers and drinking tea until around 9.30am – now that’s the sign of a good mattress!

Once we had eventually prised ourselves out of our beds, we had some breakfast and headed back to the spa for a few more hours, desperate to cling onto as much of that chilled out feeling as we could.

Thanks to Tempur for sending me to Pennyhill Park Hotel & Spa for the purpose of this post. This post has been written in collaboration with Tempur but all views are my own. With havin so much content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright violation? My website has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my authorization. Do you know any ways to help reduce content from being ripped off? I’d really appreciate it.

Oh what a beautiful hotel. I stayed in Cheltenham at the weekend and the bed they had there was amazing! I really need to get a new mattress. But it’s always one of those things you just don’t get round to doing isn’t it? x
