Need A New Pair Of Trainers?

My love of trainers is no secret.

There aren’t many outfits that a decent pair of trainers won’t suit. And call me crazy but there aren’t many occasions either. I’m a big fan of wearing trainers to work (hey, it’s officially acceptable now – I once read in Grazia that loads of the team wear them to work) and when it comes to heading out to the park with my daughter, they’re a no-brainer.

My weekend uniform of late has been that classic combo of trainers, striped top, statement necklace and skinny jeans (although I am now coming around to the idea of – gasp – boyfriend jeans) and I’ve had to stop myself from buying new trainers, most weeks.

Knowing how much I love them, online retailer Cloggs.co.uk have asked me to road test a pair for them. I hadn’t come across Cloggs before but loved browsing their shoes and trainers – they stock a huge number of different brands and styles. From Clarks court shoes to Joules slippers and from kids’ Uggs to sleek men’s lace ups by Ted Baker. I challenge you to take a look and not find at least five pairs of shoes you’d buy.

But back to trainers. Cloggs cover all the big trends, as far as I’m concerned…

Gorgeous trainers

1. Converse Allstar in mallow pink, £45.99

2. Vans Classic Slip-ons, £39.99

3. Converse Allstar hi-top in rose gold, £64.99

4. Skechers Flex Appeal, £58.99

But it was a pair of ASH hi tops in black leather that I went for. The leather is so soft, the first time I wore them, it felt like I was wearing worn-in shoes. They were so comfortable. The buckles give them an unusual twist, compared with usual lace ups, but they have a side zip to avoid a real faff every time you put them on or take them off.

For the past couple of months, I’ve been wearing these bad boys pretty much every day, with my striped tee and skinny jeans (did you notice the really annoying white line down my black jeans, above? How do I get rid of it… anyone?) and they look as good now as they did when I got them. They might not be everyone’s cup of tea – I’m pretty sure my husband hates them – but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And boys don’t ‘get’ fashion sometimes, do they?

My next trainer purchase is going to be some slip-ons like the Vans above. The only question is… checkerboard print or leopard print?

If you’re more of a classic Converse kinda person, listen up. Cloggs have given me a pair of Converse trainers to give away to one lucky winner.

  1. See the red high tops up there… My weapon of choice. Except my pair are about 8 years old and the soles are nearly smooth and bit of a death trap.

So I *neeeeeeed* new ones :)

  2. My new love is a pair of bright pinky purple adidas gazelles. So comfy and bright. And this comes from someone who normally doesn’t stray from a pair of heels! Would love some converse though – probably in another bright colour for summer x

  3. I live in a cheap pair of trainers from new look at the moment, need to hunt down a nice pair for the summer!

  4. Love the Ash trainers! I’ve been rocking my New Balance that I got for my birthday last week! But I also love my leopard cons, my white cons, my gladiators, oh I just love my shoes!! x

  5. I have some Converse high tops with elasticated laces that don’t need tying or untying! Perfect, they are black and green and really comfortable.

  6. I am loving my puma suede in orange and have my eye on some black gazelles – I had some in the nineties, why did I chuck them out?!

  7. I love my tan leather Ugg boots at the mo. They are fur lined for this ‘inbetween’ weather and a little heel – they are so comfortable and cosy!

  8. My faves are still my black camper twins which are smart enough for the office (no trainers allowed here) yet quirky enough not to be dull. I really want some of the Orla Kiely shoes for clarks but I don’t know whether to get the quirky green colour or the sensible navy ones. Decisions, decisions….

  9. Thanks for the giveaway, I would love to win these for my teenage daughter. My current favourite pair of shoes at the moment, are a pair of comfy purple trainers.

  10. For colder weather I live in my North Face walking shoe/trainer, warmer weather and no bare feet it’s a pair of pull on skechers that are a bit more dainty, and come summer it’s birkenstocks all the way (or Havaianas flip flops if really sunny).

  11. Oooh those rose gold converse are calling to my inner magpie!
I’m currently living in my toms, mostly because they are just so comfy. When it’s raining out come the dark red converse. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one.
    Xxx

  12. My favourite, which I’ve been wearing all winter, are a pair of black Kicker shoes, theyr’e so comfortable x

  13. Loving my high heel Choo’s but they’re definitely not designed for getting to and from work in comfort. Coveting a pair of converse – love the rose gold pair on your blog post. They’d do nicely.

  14. My current love are a pair of six inch white sparkly ‘princess’ shoes which are thoroughly uncomfortable but make me feel incredibly glamourous…. ( I’ve taken to wearing them around the house ;) )

  15. I love my Karen Millen high heels, but I don’t like wearing them too often because I don’t want to spoil them. As for trainers, I have some classic white adidas that I love. I had a pair of Vans years ago and they were amazing, so comfy.

  17. I’m in that gap between my favourite Fitflop boots and my lovely Fitflop sandals. I really need some shoes to become my Spring favourites!

  18. My favourite shoes at the moment are a pair of white foam flip flops because im suffering with swollen feet/ankles with being 30 weeks pregnant!

  19. I currently live in a pair of comfy Merrells which have dine me proud over the winter for school runs & trips to the beach and moors. Mainly they don’t leak!
