Oh dear. I’ve done something crazy. I don’t know what came over me and I’m starting to wonder if it was a mistake.
I’ve… bought a ridiculously expensive skirt for my toddler.
Yes, me. The mum who harps on about not spending much on kids’ clothes. The mum who sings the praises of Sainsbury’s and F+F. The mum who secretly and silently sneers at kids wearing designer clothes (which I fully realise is ridiculous – it’s reverse snobbery and I’d never sneer at a parent who dressed their child in hand-me-downs so why is it OK to do the reverse?)
When you see the skirt, I think you’ll understand. OK, ready? Here it is…
5 reasons why buying this skirt was a fantastic idea (stay with me here):
- It was in the sale. Originally £51 (seriously – £51. Surely only Victoria Beckham would spend that much on a toddler skirt?) I saved a whopping £20.50 on it. That’s thrifty spending.
- I bought it for her to wear to her 2nd birthday party, so it’s a special occasion that requires a special outfit.
- It’s SO DAMN CUTE.
- It’s age 2-3 so it’ll last her a whole year. And I’ll make her wear it to every party she goes to. And on Christmas Day. And Boxing Day.
- I could have (and very nearly did) buy her the matching t-shirt too, but even I couldn’t stomach that. So I saved another £20. Hoorah!
What’s the most you’ve ever spent on kids’ clothing? (Do share, it’ll make me feel less guilty.)
