Top Five Mum Crushes 2012 – which one do you secretly fancy?

Put it down to hormones dancing around inside you, put it down to all that time spent at home during the first year of your child’s life, whatever the reason, there’s no denying that women develop crushes on a whole new set of famous men when they become a mum. David Beckham and Daniel Craig get shoved out of the picture in favour of some rather unlikely characters – some of whom weren’t even on their radar until that point.

So here it is, the Top Five Mum Crushes 2012. Which one do you harbour secret desires for?

5. Jeremy Kyle

Yes, he’s fairly irritating in a SHOUTY way, on his ITV1 show The Jeremy Kyle Show, but there’s something about his strong jawline that some mums find attractive. And some women like that nasty image Jeremy Kyle has going on. Who are we to judge?

4. Matthew Wright

Matthew Wright, mum crush, mums fancy Matthew Wright, The Wright Stuff, secret crush

Another daytime TV star, Matthew Wright, presenter of Channel 5′s The Wright Stuff has a cheeky grin that makes you think he’s been up to all sorts the night before. His involvement in a few scandals (that moment he blurted out “John Leslie” being one of them) gives him extra mum crush points. The fact that he regularly refers to Mumsnet users as “screeching harpies” makes him OK in my book.

3. Mathew Baynton

Mathew Baynton, Horrible Histories, mum crush

I’ve never seen CBBC show Horrible Histories myself but I’m reliably informed that mums of slightly older kids get their eye candy in the form of writer and actor Mathew Baynton. (Mathew also has the added bonus of playing Deano in Gavin & Stacey.) Everyone likes a funny man, and even though this one spends his time dressed in wigs and hats, look how hot he is in real life! He definitely gets the thumbs up from the mum brigade.

2. Ben Faulks

Ben Faulks, Mr Bloom's Nursery, mum crush, CBeebies

Ben Faulks, you ask? He looks a bit familiar, you say, but you can’t quite put your finger on where you’ve seen him. Imagine him wearing a woollen tank top and brown hat… got it? Yes, it’s Mr Bloom from the Bafta Award winning CBeebies show Mr Bloom’s Nursery. He’s good with his hands and he’s not afraid of rolling up his sleeves and getting a bit dirty (planting veg, I mean). When asked, last year, how he felt about his stud-status, Ben said, “I’m super-flattered that Mr. Bloom has gone down so well. I never knew a pair of wellies and a trilby could be such a winning combination.”

And the No.1 mum crush is….

1. Andy Day

Andy Day, CBeebies, mum crush, Andy from CBeebies

You’re nodding your head and smiling, aren’t you? Mums up and down the country can’t get enough of Andy Day (or to give him his proper title: Andy from CBeebies). I’m not saying fellow presenter Sid isn’t hot too, but it’s Andy that sets mums’ pulses racing. Andy also has his own CBeebies show, Andy’s Wild Adventures (insert smutty joke here). So Andy, you are officially the No 1 mum crush 2012.

See for me Jeremy Kyle is just horrible. Never ever would he make my crush list, mainly due to his attitude. Replace him with Philip Schofield.
Replace Mr Bloom with Mister Maker, take out Matthew Wright and add Stephen Mulhern.
And finally replace Mathew Bayton with Nat from Iconicles.
Surely Sid and Andy could come as a package ;-) (I was going to say come together but thought best to reword!)

Have to say none of these float my boat but I will admit to a small penchant for Phil (as in Kirsty and Phil). I would also not say no to Daniel Craig and Colin Firth (actually I would probably just fall at their feet). Slightly embarrassed to admit that Monty Don has a bit of something about him too!

    • notanothermummyblog

Ha! Monty Don? Love it. It’s all coming out now, isn’t it?

  7. Louise Moorcroft

I love Andy! He makes me laugh out loud! I wouldn’t say I fancy him as such but he’s very cute and makes me smile! I love it when Sid and Andy rap the numbers!!! Oh dear…I’m officially a saddo!!! lol!
